YAC Visit to Gray Academy
Monday morning was a bit out of the ordinary for students at Gray Academy in Winnipeg. We were invited to present to Ms. Margolis' Grade 4 art classes. They had a number of strong entries in last year's competition, and they brought that enthusiasm to their artwork of the freshwater drum.
Of course, we shared some fishing stories and it was encouraging to hear that one student had a successful fishing outing on the Red River over this past weekend. How's that for November weather! We played a video of the drumming noise for the students and they marvelled at an image of the molar-like teeth in a drum's throat that are used for crushing clams and crayfish. Lots of fun and a great group of kids.
